Baby Room (0 - 18 Months) We are registered to accommodate 9 babies in any one session. Our baby rooms provide a cosy, nurturing environment where parents can be reassured that their “precious little ones” are cared for by our qualified and experienced key worker. We aim to follow your home routines to ensure continuity for your child. We have a separate sleep room and changing area for babies.
Toddler Room (18 Months - 3 Years) We are registered to accommodate 12 toddlers in any one session. Our toddler room provides a warm relaxed environment for curious little minds to explore and develop with the aid of our qualified and experienced staff.
Pre-School (3 - 5 Years) We are registered to accommodate 12 children in any one session. Our preschool room offers a wide range of activities to extend development and to provide opportunities for various experiences. We believe in placing great emphasis on learning through play and the outdoor environment. Our pre-school groups follow themed topics which cover the following areas of learning:
• language, literacy and communication; • mathematical development; • personal, social development, wellbeing and cultural diversity; • knowledge and understanding of the world; • physical development; • creative development; • bilingualism.
Our curriculum is taught through English, with basic Welsh offered at every opportunity. We are currently working towards becoming a registered provider of early-years education.
Routines & Timetable Little Chums offers children fl exibility as we believe learning through play and the outdoor environment is an essential part of children’s development. A range of activities will be provided to all of our children and will be displayed on our notice boards.
A sample of activities includes: • art and craft • music and movement • outdoor play • discovery • role play • sand and water • quiet reading • emergent writing.
Little Chums Meals Little Chums recognises the importance of providing a well balanced and nutritious diet. All of our home-cooked meals are freshly prepared by our experienced cook. No salt or sugar is added in the preparation or cooking of our meals. We work with our cook to ensure a varied menu which operates on a four weekly rota and is displayed on the notice board in the entrance halls and on the website.
A full day care session includes breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch and dessert and afternoon tea. A morning session includes breakfast, mid-morning snack and lunch and dessert. An afternoon session includes afternoon tea. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day.
Fresh fruit is available throughout your child’s session; your child will be encouraged to sample fruits from different countries around the world when in season, as well as traditional fruits.
Special dietary requirements can be discussed directly with our cook, in conjunction with a senior member of staff.
